As you’re speeding down Villebel Avenue, you approach a stop sign and see a little girl. She’s lonely, shivering from the cold breeze. You roll down your window, and ask her why she’s alone out here at this time of night.
“What’s your name?”, you ask.
“Morgan.”
“Where are her parents”, you think to yourself.
“I’m….I’m cold, and no one loves me”, she says.
As you look closer, you can see little cuts on Morgan’s arms and cheeks.
“Sweetie do you want me to take you to your parent’s house?”
“No please! No please don’t take me back there!”, she pleads.
“Ok. What about your grandparents? You have aunts and uncles?”
“I don’t want to go anywhere. I want to stand right here, at this stop sign where no one cares about me.”
“I’ll tell you this Morgan. Why don’t you get in the car so you’re not cold. And maybe we can go get hot chocolate or something. I know you’ve got to be thirsty.”
“Ok I guess”, she responds.
She gets in the car and buckles her seat belt. You start driving and you smell something, something distinct. You sniff harder and you want to vomit. The little girl smells like she hasn’t showered in days.
You pull up to the Dunkin’ Donuts, where Morgan gets a cup of hot chocolate and a donut with strawberry sprinkles.
You start driving again. “So, where to next?”, you ask.
“Ehhhh, I don’t know. You can drop me back off at the stop sign if you want. Or you can take me to the police station.”
“I think the police station is the better option Morgan”, you say to her smiling.
Morgan smiles back, but in a creepy way.
You and Morgan arrive at the police station. You walk up to the door to see a missing person’s report. You look at it closely, and see that it is the little girl, Morgan, that’s missing. Two police officers look at you guys through the glass door. They run towards you, bust through the door and tackle you onto the hard pavement.
They handcuff you, and take you inside the police station.
You turn around and see Morgan with a devious grin on her face, waving goodbye to you.
Wow! Great job Makai
